About Sydney

Sydney Park is a speaker, sports and gender equity advocate, event host, and writer. In 2021, she held the title of Miss New York and spent her year championing inclusivity and acceptance in sports through advocacy and partnerships with national organizations like Athlete Ally, the Women's Sports Foundation, and Up2Us Sports. She currently serves on the Advisory Council of adidas' and Up2Us Sports' She Changes the Game initiative, which aims to increase the number of women coaches at all levels of sports. A staunch supporter of LGBTQ+ rights, Sydney was one of the first candidates to use her platform as a state titleholder to advocate for trans inclusion on the Miss America stage.

Her Miss New York title brought her to the 100th Anniversary Miss America stage where she placed Third Runner Up to Miss America and was awarded a Talent Award for her performance of her original poem, "Sit like a Lady." Sydney's Miss America run garnered national press attention, and she was featured in the Wall Street Journal, Rolling Stone, and the New York Times. Back in New York City, she was recognized by Disney on Broadway as one of the city's most influential women. She has been recognized by both the NYS Assembly and Buffalo Common Council for her work as Miss New York.

As the daughter of a businessman, Sydney has leveraged her skillset to spearhead partnership projects across New York State in support of the Miss New York Scholarship Organization. Her efforts resulted in the doubling of this year's Scholarship award, a brand ambassadorship with New York by Rail, and a prize package for the newest Miss New York worth over $15,000. She plans to continue to serve the organization and state of New York through volunteering and fundraising.

The granddaughter of Korean and Scottish immigrants, Sydney is an avid supporter of equitable access to education and opportunity. A graduate of Fordham Law School and Columbia University, Sydney holds a Juris Doctor and a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies.  She hopes to continue to use her education to create a better and more equitable world for all.

Lifestyle & Miss New York Organization

"When I was five years old, I looked at the TV and I didn’t see women who looked like me. And now I have other half-Asian little girls who are like, ‘I look like you.’ And what they see is not this package of beauty, what they see is Ivy League grad, law student, New York powerhouse. And I think that’s the important part.”
